He hates it if I go out in the evening because he misses me and doesn’t like doing his bedtime routine without me. My husband says he just needs to toughen up, but I don’t know.

“I know it can be difficult for you when I am not with you. This is normal, because we spend so much of our time together. When I feel scared about being apart from you, I know that my “what if” thinking has taken over. Instead of spending my time worrying about “what if he needs me” or “what if something bad happens”, I rather think about what I can do instead. I can make sure you feel safe at home with a sitter you like. I can put my favorite songs on in the car to help calm me down. And I can call you once while I am out to talk to you.
