I am an Individual and Family Support Specialist, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (WA, USA) at WarriorBrain.com.
I have experience working alongside both families and high achievers all over the world. I have traveled to more than 85 countries and have lived, worked and volunteered in Africa (where I am from), America (where I studied), Europe and now the Middle East.
Many families and high achievers use my simple and practical solutions to feel confident, cope and feel more calm – whether that is helping your kids move through their worries and fears, or helping yourself organize and control your own thoughts and overwhelming feelings, so you can feel like yourself again.
I believe you are the expert. That you know what is best for you. I work alongside you, believing in your own ability and capacity to make the right decisions for you. Striving to stay curious about what works for you and what doesn’t work, and helping you learn what makes you thrive and what helps you grow.
I don’t believe in a cookie cutter approach. I take an individual approach to every person I meet. There is no single approach that will guarantee success. To do this, I limit my slots to 12 – 15 families/individuals at any given time. I aim to always be approachable, adaptable and genuine as we work together to find answers you need.
I give away most of what I know for free. I want to make sure you have access to what we have found actually works. I want to make my information more researched and actionable than most other stuff you can find out there. I value paying it forward. And I genuinely want you to live happy and well. So sharing is caring!
I always had a pull towards working with children who struggled with overwhelming worries and fears. Maybe it was because I struggled with anxiety myself growing up. Or maybe it was because of the difference it can make in a child’s life when you see them push through their fears and find their own courage again. You can actually see their overwhelming panic slowly but surely change into self confidence. And their fear of failure becomes just another lesson in learning how to adapt and succeed in this ever changing world.
Whilst living in Dubai in 2015, I saw such a need to help an ever growing problem of children living with more anxiety at younger ages. My job at the time required me to travel all around the world at least once a week, so I needed to find a way to help without being in one place. It needed to be via an online platform where my physical location was not a barrier. I started out writing news articles for local magazines such as Mother, Baby and Child, and Cosmo Middle East. Soon I was visiting local schools to help share insights with teachers and parents about my own findings. Word of mouth spread and I am honored to work with both expats and local families and individuals alike.
I learned so much about each family, and together we figured out the answers they were looking for. It didn’t take me long to realize that not all kids were getting the help they needed when they were kids. Some kids and teens were slipping through the cracks. And that these “kids” now in their 30s, 40s and 50s still need support. On the outside, these are highly successful students and professionals. And on the inside, their bright minds and self-imposed high expectations can sometimes hold them back from being the person they know they are meant to be.
I have featured in Business Insider, Parents and HuffPost, and more locally I have been in magazines such as Mother, Baby and Child UAE and interviewed on Dubai Eye 103.8 during the Coronavirus pandemic.
I don’t take a one size fits all approach. I believe in really supporting each person I work with. And in order to do that, I have chosen to really get to know each person and each family. I recently received an eye opening email from a parent I previously worked with:
“While living in (area) I have tried something similar before. Once I was dragged into therapy with my partner which was painful torture that I dreaded each week. I felt they were a complete waste of time and I couldn't get myself to go past 3 sessions. A second time we attempted marriage counseling but I did not enjoy the sessions.
I didn't feel like I was gaining anything from them and I also was never looking forward to them. I didn't feel better once they were finished and sometimes I even felt worse about myself. In each of my previous attempts I never felt that anyone actually cared about helping me. I really felt that I was just a dollar sign. The first professional would purposely go over the time by 2 hours so she could charge us extra and the second one would end the session at the exact minute it was over regardless if we were in the middle of discussing something serious or not.
I did not get any of those vibes during our sessions with you. And I am grateful that you are willing to sacrifice a few extra minutes of your time if we are still in the middle of a discussion. I truly feel that we are both working together and I appreciate greatly that you are open to me messaging you at any time if needed and that you take time out of your day to respond. Even my partner was very shocked when I said I would start working with you because of how awful the previous experiences were for me. I really can't thank you enough. ”
I am determined to help you no matter what. Whether it is me, or a referral from me to someone else – I will help you find the right fit for you based on what you need right now. No marketing tactics. No money making ploys. Just an honest desire to get you the support you need to move forward. Pinky promise!
